Original 1866 United States patent model for the Shawk Morley Fire Alarm Telegraph. Its co-inventor, George W. Shawk, was the founder of Western Electric.
The model is guaranteed to be authentic, as is the original 3 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ patent office tag that accompanies it.
Condition of the patent model overall is excellent, with normal signs of wear consistent with age and authenticity. The electro-magnet coils are good, and when a small amount of voltage is applied to the binding post nuts, the hammer strikes the bell whenever the telegraph key is depressed.
