1899 Columbia QB Cylinder Phonograph In Original Cardboard Carrying Case

$750.00

1899 Columbia QB cylinder phonograph, the most uncommon Q variant except for the Q’s sold by Sears & Roebuck on fancy cast iron bases.

The “B” stands for box, which is made of paper-covered cardboard (faux leather) and was available from the manufacturer for an additional $1.00 over the cost of a caseless Q, which by itself (with a 10″ cone horn) sold for $5.00.

Condition is on par with the handful of other surviving examples. The phonograph’s cardboard case is well worn but largely intact. The handle is complete, as are the two front brass clasps. The box’s recessed lip has scattered nicks along the periphery, but the phonograph still sits snugly in the base.

Displays nicely on a shelf, and the phonograph runs well.

The QB has a nice original 10″ cone horn, with excellent original paint and pinstriping.
