Housed in a black metal cabinet and bearing more than a passing resemblance to the Crosley Pup that appeared in the US at around the same time, England’s seldom encountered Polar Twin radio — manufactured in London by the Radio Communication Company, Ltd. — was built to higher standard than its North American counterpart, and it utilized plug-in coils, for different wavelength ranges, as well as an amplifying transformer.
Condition of this example is excellent, and it’s original throughout. No dings or dents in the housing, and the wiring is straight and original.
Clean dial, with crisp, legible litho everywhere,
Windings on the plug-in coils are still tightly wrapped around the forms.
Original Burndept AF transformer tests good (both windings).
Original wiring harness is complete and in good condition.
The tipped tubes (one for detection, the other for amplification) have open filaments, so tubes with good emissions will need to be substituted for them if you wish to make the radio operational.
With tubes installed, the radio measures approximately 9″ high x 5″ wide by 4″ deep.
A very neat little radio rarely seen on either side of the pond.
