1922 Petaled Pleiophone Horn Radio Speaker * Federal Tel. & Tel.
Federal made two versions of its Pleiophone loudspeaker. Both versions are uncommon, but this version (with a petaled bell that resembles a “morning glory” phonograph horn from an Edison Gem) is almost impossible to find in any condition, much less looking as nice as this example does.
Original Federal decal on the exterior of the base is in wholly intact and legible, and the original Federal driver inside the base is electrically sound and works well. The black enamel on the bell and elbow is smooth and glossy, with touch-ups to areas, but no rust or flaking.
The speaker stands approximately 14″ high and measures 14″ from front to back. The bell diameter is 10″.
