1922 Zenith 1R Radio & 2M Amplifier

$1,850.00

Ships Worldwide.

Manufactured in 1922 by the Chicago Radio Laboratory (which the following year legally changed its name to the Zenith Radio Corporation), the 1R radio and 2M amplifier were the first in a long line of Zenith products that would eventually come to define high end home entertainment — first in the radio arena, and later in television.

Condition of both components is good throughout, and both of them are still working.

Panels are undamaged, and the lettering/nomenclature on both panels is legible everywhere. Remarkably, none of the moveable pot metal parts are frozen, and none of the pot metal pointers have broken off. That said, the pot metal is visibly brittle, with veining evident (as you’d expect) and some deformation as well.

Cabinets are clean, and they retain their original finish and their original Zenith decals. Both AF transformers in the amplifier are original. Wiring everywhere is original, too.

The radio comes with a good brass base tipped UV-201a tube, and the amp comes with two good UV-201a tubes
