Turn-of-the-century Pathe Coq phonograph with an original System Bettini Micro Reproducer attachment. The reproducer was made in Paris under a licensing agreement (disputed) from Bettini New York. The 16″ mache horn is a replacement made by Jean-Paul Agnard.

Condition of both the phonograph and its Bettini attachment are excellent. The attachment is beautifully made and fully functional. Its pot metal frame is neither swollen nor veined, and the spider and stylus mount are both original. The diaphragm has been replaced. The weight moves easily up and down the threaded arm, the gimble and lift lever are both working properly, and the retaining screw that secures the attachment to the carriage can be easily loosened and tightened.

The phonograph itself — a Pathe Coq — runs well, and it’s original throughout. The mechanism is clean, the motor is strong, and the gearing is reasonably quiet. Lid retains its original shellac finish, and the decal is original and nearly perfect.

The Bettini record box in the last photo is for display; and it is included with the phonograph. It was created using a photo-lithograph of an original box label laid over an Edison record canister. It contains a nice, playable Columbia brown wax cylinder.
