1901 Type B Victor Phonograph With “Flying Dolphins” Cabinet & Eldridge Johnson New Century Reproducer

$5,950.00

No Replica Parts

All-original Type B “Victor” Gramophone in a very rare “Flying Dolphins” style cabinet. The phonograph was manufactured ca. 1901 by phonograph pioneer Eldridge Johnson shortly after his incorporation of the Victor Talking Machine Co.

This historic phonograph is also known as the “Trademark” model because it is the machine to which Nipper is listening to his late Master on the company’s iconic logo.

The phonograph runs well and has no incorrect or reproduction parts. No damage anywhere, and no repairs. Original cabinet finish, original horn (with original paint), original Johnson New Century sound box, original horn elbow, original horn support and rubber sheathing, original crank, original record hold down, etc. The serial number of the New Century Sound Box is just 86.

Mechanism is original, with a good original fiber gear.

Base molding is complete and undamaged. Applied wood “flying dolphins” decorations on the sides of the cabinet are likewise complete and undamaged.

Though mechanically identical to the “Fleur de Lis” Victor B, the “Flying Dolphins” Victor B is much scarcer, and it’s rarely found in any condition, much less looking as good as this example.
