Introduced in 1922, the Marconiphone receiver and its matching 2-stage amplifier (later called the Marconiphone Mk. I but originally known simply as “the Marconiphone”) comprised the first home receiving outfit offered by the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Co. of Canada.
Housed in tiny slant-front cabinets measuring just 7 1/2″ high, the pair could fit almost anywhere, and the radio’s regenerative circuit was ideal for the Canadian market, where radio stations were few and far between.
Condition of both components is excellent, and they’re original throughout. Straight wiring; perfectly-lettered panels; original AF transformers, clean, tightly-wound tuner, pristine original cabinet finish — a really beautiful pair in all respects.
The radio is working and comes with a good tipped UV-200 detector tube. The amplifier’s transformers each have an open winding and come with 2 tipped UV-201 display tubes (open filaments).
Includes the original registration card. It was never mailed in, and it has not been filled out.
