1912 Electro Importing Co. Loose Coupler Radio Tuner * From Henry Ford Museum
This compact, elegantly designed loose coupler was manufactured ca. 1912 by Hugo Gernsback’s Electro-Importing Company, a pioneer in the development of products for the early radio experimenter. It comes from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI, and it retains its original museum inventory tag.
Condition is excellent, close to mint. Original finish on the base and standards — still glossy and smooth to the touch. Windings are original, too, and still tightly wrapped around the forms. Secondary coil slides easily along the rails, and the hard rubber sliders — both signed — run smoothly along the primary coil’s surface. Original decal on the base is nearly perfect, and the paper Forman’s label on the underside of the base is complete and legible.
An exceptional example of a hard-to-find tuner.
