1923 National Airphone 3-Piece Monodyne Receiving Set * Radio, Amp, Interference Eliminator
$1,200.00
No Sales Tax If Shipped Outside North Carolina.
1922 National Airphone GT-1 Monodyne Radio, its rare matching Monodyne Amplifier, and the even scarcer Monodyne Interference Eliminator, which as you can see is mint in its original box.
Both radio and amp are in excellent condition, and they come with clear glass WD-12 display tubes (open filaments). The Interference Eliminator is essentially new.
In 1922, the GT-1 was the smallest tube radio on the market, measuring just 4″ x 6″ x 4″. Advertised in the pages of popular radio magazines, it was sold primarily through mail order — directly from the manufacturer — for $10 (without the tube).
The amp was also $10, and it was shipped with a WD-12 tube and a single transformer winding wrapped in red paper. This coil was mounted on the panel. The other winding was mounted on the underside of the panel. A strange arrangement, but National was a strange company.
All three pieces are being offered for historical/collecting purposes only, with no assurances stated or implied that it’s still suitable for broadcast reception.
