Exotic and uncommon 1924 Martian Beauty Radio manufactured by Marti Electric of Newark, NJ. The receiver’s single dial tuning was ahead of its time, and the radio looked like nothing else on the market, but its poured shellac base was easily damaged, and the reception quality was poor compared to the 1-tube sets Crosley was turning out by the thousands.
The short story: a beautiful little radio that came and went before anyone had time to say hello or goodbye.
These days, the Martian Beauty is among the most prized radios from the 1920’s, and this example still works when powered up with an ARBEIII.
