Beautiful 1920’s Western Electric 13-C Amplifier, arguably the world’s first hi-fidelity audio amplifier.
Condition is excellent, and the amplifier is original throughout. No damaged or replacement parts anywhere. Panel is clean, with no damage. Cabinet finish is original, and it’s good on all sides, with nice gloss and only scattered minor marks consistent with age and authenticity. All of the knobs and switches are original, and all of them are in good condition.
Chassis is clean, and all of the transformers are correct and original. All wiring is original, too. All of the transformers have been tested with a multimeter, and all of them test good for continuity.
Comes with 4 Western Electric VT-2 tennis ball tubes. Three of the tubes have good filaments; one does not.
Please note: three of the four tubes have conventional pin-outs, like a 216-A tube. Only one of them has an offset pin-out like a 205-D. The amplifier’s aluminum tube sleeves are configured for offset tubes, so if you want to fit the tubes all the way into the sockets, you’ll need to re-set three of the four sleeves. Otherwise, you should just consider the tubes to be for display.
This 13-C is being offered for historical/collecting purposes, with no other assurances stated or implied.
Measures approximately 24″ x 10″ x 11″ with the lid lowered. Shipping weight approximately 60 lb.
