C. 1875 Induction Coil With Unusual Striated Lid

$750.00

Ships Worldwide.

Beautifully made induction apparatus with its original handles/electrodes (along with their connecting wires) and an unusual domed lid made of alternating strips of mahogany and walnut. The apparatus is unsigned and undated, but given its construction and hardware, it was most likely manufactured between 1870 and 1880.

Condition is very good throughout, and the regulating rod can still be withdrawn from and re-inserted into the center of the coil. Original coil covering is intact. Original binding posts and binding post nuts.

Cabinet finish is original, and the cabinet itself exhibits only moderate wear consistent with age and authenticity. Original green felt lines underside of the base and the underside of the lid. One of cabinet clips is chipped. The cabinet hardware is otherwise intact and in good condition.

With its lid in place, the apparatus measures approximately 11″ x 8″ x 8″.
