Beautiful vintage RCA 77-DX ribbon microphone that hails from former NBC radio affiliate, WHDH-AM in Boston, MA. The mic has an uncommon original 4-sided NBC flag and an original RCA 91B base. The mic is in good shape both inside and out, with a nice ribbon, no dents in the grill, and clean original enamel on the exterior of the housing. The flag is likewise in good shape, as you can see in the photographs, and it’s guaranteed to be authentic.
The mic was tested briefly with a small guitar amp and it seems to be working okay, but we do not have the measuring equipment necessary to test its range, its level of distortion, its level of hum, its gain, etc. Although it sounds fine to untrained ears, it is possible that some level of electrical restoration/updating will be required to bring it back to its original spec.
The XLR cable and desk stand that are pictured are included. The desk stand is an old 91B, on the underside of which is written, in red enamel, its former station’s call letters — WHDH.
