Beautiful early Victor 6 (in 1906, the Roman numeral VI replaced the Arabic numeral 6 on the phonograph’s data plate), with an original Victor spear tip mahogany horn.
No re-plating, no refinishing, no issues. The original Victor “spear tip” horn is outstanding, with a few scattered minor marks and faint crazing in the finish consistent with age and authenticity. The Nipper decal is original.
The cabinet finish is original, and its patina is pitch perfect, with no irregularities. Like the horn, the cabinet finish exhibits light crazing consistent with age and authenticity. Cabinet itself is outstanding, with tight glue joints everywhere. Beautiful original gold-plating on the hardware and cornices, with an exquisite patina. Glossy original back-bracket enamel, and nearly perfect original gold back-bracket decorations. Horn elbow exhibits some plating wear, but it’s in excellent condition, with no dents or damage. The data plate on the front of the cabinet is clean and legible.
Original 3-spring motor is in excellent condition. Plenty of torque; no problems.
The original gold-plated Victor Exhibition reproducer sounds great. Loud and clear, with excellent dynamics.
The crank is a replacement, identical to the original, but the phonograph is otherwise factory-original and factory-correct throughout.
Overall, a beautiful survivor. You will be hard-pressed to find a better original example.
