Beautiful and very rare 1922 Western Electric 3-A radio manufactured at the company’s Hawthorne Works in Cicero, IL.
Not a superhet circuit, like those found in the Western Electric radios that followed it in 1923 and 1924. Rather, it appears to be a regenerative radio with AF amplification.
Condition is excellent, and the radio is original throughout. Flawless panel, clean pointers, functional knobs, etc. Chassis is likewise pristine, and all four Western Electric peanut tubes have good emissions.
Cabinet finish is original, as is the factory schematic affixed to the cabinet’s back. Transformers are good, and the radio works when connected to a longwire outdoor antenna and an ARBE regulated power supply.
